About

An Invitation to the Endless Dark

Drowned Light is an abstract and harrowing experience where the boundaries of reality and sanity are redrawn through an eerie pencil aesthetic. Isolated from the rest of the world, this structure rising in the middle of the ocean is far from an ordinary lighthouse. In this place where the dark is not just the absence of light but a living entity, you will race against time to survive.

The Monolithic Breakwater and the Forgotten Legend

Uncovering the truth behind this spiral lighthouse—shrouded in dark legends for years and avoided by all who fear it—is Thomas Marshall's sole purpose. As you step into this structure, built with the imposing, narrow, and claustrophobic "Monolithic Breakwater" architecture, you will be met with mysterious drawings and writings left behind by an unknown hand. The unsettling silence echoing off the stone walls and these abandoned notes will be your only guide to unraveling the lighthouse's secrets. Yet, in this place where pitch black and sharp lines bear down on you like a nightmare, it won't be long before you realize you are being watched.

The Meaning of Death and the Cycle

This structure does not obey ordinary physical laws. As you descend, spatial reality begins to bend and the edges of sanity blur. To overcome the impassable obstacles in the depths of the lighthouse, moving forward is not enough; you must be prepared to face your own past and use it to your advantage.

Key Features

  • The 2-Minute Lifeline: No matter your light source, you have exactly two minutes to keep the darkness at bay. While your light defies the elements, the relentless flow of time itself is your most unforgiving enemy in the lighthouse.
  • Echoes of the Past: In this cyclical nightmare, death is not a game over, but a fundamental mechanic. The traces and "remains" you leave behind in previous attempts serve a vital, cryptic purpose—acting as the very keys needed to bypass the lighthouse's ancient mechanisms.
  • Don't Look Away: You are not alone on these spiraling steps. There is only one way to stop the silhouettes watching you from the dark: never break eye contact. Keep a constant watch over your shoulder while managing your fleeting light and time.
  • Pencil-Drawn Nightmare: This descent into the heart of darkness is presented with a dreamlike, eerie visual language. The sharp lines piercing through the black void will make you feel the dread of the unknown and true isolation to your core.

Heart of Darkness

As you piece together these mysterious drawings and writings left by an unknown hand, you will realize this stone structure has a much deeper purpose than it seems. Follow the light; yet, what waits to be awakened in the indescribable depths of the lighthouse will only be revealed once you reach the very bottom—the final point where all reason fades away.
