About

One road, nowhere to be

Nothing here is timing you. The road keeps drawing itself in front of the car for as long as you feel like driving, and there is nothing waiting at the end of it. One or two drivers, one road — drive alone, or let one friend pull up beside you.

Press E and you are somewhere else

Tired of the pines? Press E. Look up and the mountain pass is already around you. No loading screen, no teleport: the land is rewritten from behind the car forward, and the asphalt under your wheels never shifts.

Five environments: forest, fairy forest, meadow village, mountain pass, ancient valley. The choice is yours alone — your friend can stay in the trees while you drive the valley, and you are both still on the same road.

Sixteen cars, and you can change your mind at ninety

A roadster, coupes and sedans, an SUV, a pickup, a van, trucks and a bus. Pick one in the garage, or press O mid-straight and drive out of it in something else — the new car turns up at the speed the old one was doing. They do not all want the same road: the bus runs out of legs in the eighties, the coupe will see a hundred and sixty, but not at once. Every car starts at around sixty percent of what it has and the ceiling opens over the next minute of clean driving; brake hard and it closes back down. Cruise lock on X.

Weather and the hours

Set the hour and the weather yourself and the sky stays where you put it — or throw one switch and let the world keep its own time: dawn, noon, dusk and night inside fifteen minutes, weather arriving when it arrives. The night sky is its own, not a dimmed version of the day one. Rain that leans over in the wind, snow that holds your tyre tracks until it fills them back in, northern lights over the cold stretches, meteors, valleys that fill with fog until only the ridges are left. All of it baked into the world seed, so when your friend says look left they are pointing at the same aurora you are.

The road, and what is on it

Other cars drive properly: they ease off in the corners, hold a gap, and overtake when the far lane is clear. Run the road empty, or heavy enough that overtaking means waiting.

Bridges and viaducts wherever the ground refuses to cooperate, passes that spiral up over themselves, a lighthouse on the horizon minutes before you reach it. Fuel stops and viewpoints too, because a road you cannot stop on is not really a road.

Your music, or ours

Ten tracks come with the game. After that the radio is yours: drop files into the music folder and they turn up on their own, or build playlists by hand — mp3, ogg, wav, aiff. Nothing is copied; your files stay where you put them.

Driving together

The convoy readout tells you how far ahead or behind your friend is along the road, and puts an arrow at the screen edge when they drop out of sight. Hand them your speed so you both settle on the same number, or call them over when they get lost. Horn on H.

Voice chat is positional: they get louder as they pull alongside and thin out when they fall back. There is a text box if you would rather type. Lobbies can be public, friends-only or private, and if the host drops the drive does not end.

Without stopping the car

TAB opens the drive menu and the car keeps going while it is open — environment, time, weather, traffic, camera, the car itself. Type in a seed, or copy the world's code so someone else can drive the same one. Photo mode on F2, a gallery on F4 that uploads straight to Steam, and Auto Drive on F5, which takes the wheel and hides the interface until you touch anything.

Nothing to unlock. Nowhere to be.

Ten languages. Every control rebindable, keyboard and controller. Camera shake, speed lines and most of what sits on the screen are switches, in case you want the road quieter than we made it.
