About

A Strange Story in a Stranger Town

Passion is a story-driven, party-based JRPG inspired by the 16-bit era, mixing noir mystery, comedy, horror, and psychedelic weirdness.

You play as a private investigator who quickly makes one thing clear:

This isn't really his story.

What begins as an investigation gradually opens into something much stranger, as you explore an increasingly bizarre world filled with suspicious characters, dangerous places, and things that probably shouldn't exist.

Classic JRPG Combat, With More Control

Passion uses an ATB-inspired battle system built around giving you time to think without taking away the pressure of combat.

When a character is ready to act, the battle pauses. You can issue their command immediately, or hold their action and allow the rest of the party's gauges to fill, giving you control over when and how your team acts.

Combat emphasizes:

  • Status effects that actually matter
  • Elemental strengths and weaknesses
  • Party composition and character-specific abilities
  • Timing and action management
  • Preparation instead of simply grinding bigger numbers

Winning isn't just about having the highest stats. Knowing what you're fighting, and bringing the right tools for the job, can make all the difference.

Explore, Investigate, and Get Distracted

Travel through towns, dungeons, corrupted places, and other locations while uncovering what is happening around you.

Talk to people. Investigate suspicious situations. Find equipment and secrets. Wander off the obvious path.

As the game opens up, you'll have more freedom to decide where to go and what to pursue, with optional content and discoveries waiting for players willing to poke around.

Noir, Comedy, Horror, and Something Else Entirely

Passion doesn't stay in one genre for very long.

One moment you may be dealing with deadpan detective dialogue or an absurd situation in town. The next, something has gone profoundly wrong.

The game's 1990s-inspired world blends noir storytelling, comedy, horror, and psychedelic imagery with the structure of a classic console RPG.

Underneath all of it is a character-driven mystery about people pulled into something far stranger than they expected.
