Description
Grow a small herd into a thriving ranch in this farming strategy game. Breed and exchange animals, manage your pasture, expand your land, protect your herd from wolves, and race other ranchers to reach the cow goal first. Play solo or online.
About
Grow your herd. Don't run out of grass.
Start with a small pasture and a handful of rabbits. Then watch your ranch come to life.
Your animals move, graze, and reproduce on their own. As the herd grows, so does its appetite. Grass disappears, space runs short, and seemingly easy growth soon becomes a strategic challenge.
Let the herd keep breeding or sell some of it? Exchange animals for more valuable species or spend your resources on new land? Invest in protection or risk it and keep pushing for more cows?
In Herd League, the rules are simple. The decisions are anything but.
Breed, exchange, and grow your herd
Exchange rabbits for sheep, sheep for pigs, pigs for cows, and eventually cows for horses.
In the settings, you can choose whether pigs or goats appear in your herd. The choice is cosmetic and does not change the rules or game balance.
Fast-breeding animals can accelerate your growth, but every new animal eats grass and takes up valuable pasture space. Let your herd grow too large and reproduction may slow down or stop entirely as food runs short.
Sometimes the fastest-breeding animals are the most profitable to sell.
Manage your pasture
Grass is one of the most important resources on your ranch.
A small herd can easily thrive on a modest pasture. A rapidly growing one cannot. Watch the land change under grazing pressure, expand your ranch into neighboring plots, and decide how aggressively you want to grow.
Weather and changing conditions can make life harder even on a well-managed ranch.
Trade on a shared market
Turn animals into cash and use it to fund expansion and protection.
Market prices change over time and respond to activity during the match. Sell when prices are favorable, keep valuable animals for further breeding, or liquidate part of your herd when you urgently need a new plot or better protection.
Other players cannot interfere with your ranch directly, but their decisions can still affect the shared market you all rely on.
Protect what you've built
A growing herd attracts unwanted attention.
Upgrade your fences and bring in guard dogs before the wolves arrive. Better protection reduces the risk of losing valuable animals, but every expense devoted to security uses funds you cannot spend on further growth.
Sometimes the safest ranch is not the fastest-growing one.
Race for the cows
The rules of Cow Race are simple: be the first to reach the required cow count.
Every decision brings you closer to that goal. Maintain a large, efficiently breeding herd, make bold exchanges, expand your land early, protect what you have, and react when your rivals begin to pull ahead.
Play solo against bots or compete online in matches for up to 12 participants. Bots can fill open slots, so you do not need a full lobby to start the race.
More than numbers
You can see your progress directly on the pasture.
The herd grows larger. Grass disappears beneath hungry animals. New plots expand the ranch. Dogs patrol its borders. Wolves put your defenses to the test.
What begins with a few rabbits can become an enormous herd fighting for the last patches of healthy pasture.
Grow the herd. Manage the pasture. Win the league.
