Starry Night Tea Party is an asymmetric pursuit game. Play as a Guest, search for clues, brew useful items, and escape the Dream; or take the role of the Demon, draw from a deck of unique cards, hunt the Guests, and harvest their Fear. Multiplayer is in development.
About
Starry Night Tea Party is an asymmetric pursuit game built around two very different perspectives. Enter the Dream as either a Guest or a Demon, and find your own way to bring the strange tea party to an end.
Demon
One Demon hunts the Guests.
Draw from more than thirty cards, each with a different effect. Track noises, seal off routes, interrupt the Guests’ actions, and force them into dangerous choices.
Killing the Guests is not the only way to end the game. Collecting the Fear they create can also fulfill your objective.
Guests
One to four Guests enter the Dream.
Search containers, gather clues and useful items, share password information with your companions, find the key, and escape.
You can also brew potions, use weapons, and fight back against the Demon who keeps kicking your ass.⏎⏎The Dream
Room layouts, clues, and items are reshuffled in every Dream. The objective may stay the same, but the path to it will not.
Every search, card, item, and choice may change the situation. Sometimes the safest way forward is not the most obvious one.
PS: Most of the text in this game was written while I was still half asleep. If you find yourself taking it too seriously, put that thought in a 5°C refrigerator for three seconds.
