About the Game

Backrooms: Insane is a first-person psychological horror and survival experience inspired by the unsettling universe of the Backrooms. Explore seemingly endless spaces, find a way to escape, and quickly discover that you are not alone.

Presented through a found footage aesthetic, the game is designed to make you feel as if you are watching recovered footage from someone who truly became trapped inside the Backrooms. The visuals, sound design, and environments are built to create a constant sense of isolation, vulnerability, and uncertainty.

Each level has its own rules, threats, and objectives. You will need to carefully explore your surroundings, find keys and important items, solve puzzles, activate mechanisms, and discover how to reach the next exit. But staying in one place for too long can have consequences.

AGAINST THE CLOCK

At different moments throughout the experience, timers and special events can completely change the behavior of a level. What begins as a seemingly calm exploration can suddenly turn into a race against time.

Countdowns may signal the beginning of a hunt, limit the amount of time you have to act, or warn you that something is about to change. When an entity begins chasing you, you will have to quickly decide whether to keep searching for your objective, hide, or run.

In certain situations, obtaining an important item or completing part of a level may cause the threat to stop being temporary. The entity will continue hunting you until you find the exit.

LEVEL CODES

Backrooms: Insane is designed to continue growing after release. Future updates will introduce new levels, each featuring its own mechanics, threats, objectives, and atmosphere.

To access certain additional levels, you will need to enter their corresponding number in the game's “Code” section.

At launch, Backrooms: Insane will include three additional levels accessible through codes:

Level 94 — Code “0094”

An unsettlingly familiar place that seems frozen in another era. Streets, houses, and seemingly peaceful environments hide a threat that becomes far more dangerous once night falls. Explore the area, find what you need to progress, and avoid drawing the attention of whatever inhabits this strange place.

Level 188 — Code “0188”

A massive, impossible-looking hotel filled with dark hallways, silent rooms, and spaces that seem to repeat endlessly. Exploration will be essential as you discover how to restore the hotel’s systems and find a way out, all while something roams its floors searching for you.

Level 931 — Code “0931”

An enigmatic and hostile level where the feeling of isolation becomes even stronger and the rules of the Backrooms seem increasingly unpredictable. Carefully observe your surroundings and search for an exit that changes its location every time the level is loaded. Understand the dangers around you and find your way out before it is too late.

These levels are part of a structure designed to expand over time. New codes and new levels will be added through future updates, gradually expanding the world of Backrooms: Insane.

EXPLORE. SURVIVE. ESCAPE.

Not every level works the same way. Each one introduces new environments, creatures, mechanics, and situations designed to keep you constantly uncertain about what might happen next.
