About

SURVIVE YOUR NOSTALGIC URGE

Are you still not tired of dwelling in those sweet memories of the 90s you have? Are you craving another nostalgia bait? Do you want to fry your dopamine receptors with another roguelike?  Well I cannot bring your past back, but I can abuse semiotics and aesthetics and a saturated genre to try evoke those feelings in you!

Survive hordes of enemies, earn XP, collect weapons and upgrades and upgrade your upgrades! see numbers popping up and fancy effects happening, all that with visuals inspired by the 90s and early 2000s games, UI and operating systems.

ON A SERIOUS NOTE

PROJECT.98 Is a roguelike, you acquire XP by destroying enemies and each time you level up you can acquire a new random upgrade, you can also destroy bosses that drop a chest containing a granted higher rarity pool. Upgrades have four levels of rarity, they can be new weapons, augmentations to your character stats or even change the status or behavior of a weapon you already posses. Each run lasts 20 minutes with bosses and timed events through, each completed run will take you to a NG+ state and award you with a random boon and a bane.

THAT NOSTALGIC LOOK

With its visuals heavily inspired by that which you were used to look at in the 90s and early 2000s, PROJECT.98 also packs a CRT Shader to bring you closer to what could have been your youth, but even if not, it is also for those who just love the aesthetics of that era. A true love letter to that era and the roguelike genre.
