Description
A 2–8 player online rule-deduction horror game. Cooperate, outmaneuver your crew, and uncover real safety rules and escape clues. Survive timed rules and unpredictable environmental threats. Optional Infested Mode gives you another reason to question whom to trust.
About
You are trapped in an unfamiliar facility.
Scattered through its rooms are documents containing the safety rules you need to survive. But not every notice tells the truth. Separate real instructions from convincing lies, and find the objects and clues you need to escape.
Share information with your crew. Help each other. And watch who is hiding what.
READ THE RULES. DOUBT THE PAPER.
Real and false safety notices lie throughout the facility. Find the documents, compare their contents, and decide which instructions to trust.
Rules activate at regular intervals. Before they begin, the genuine documents tied to those rules start to glow. Check the instructions and tell your crew before the warning ends. The words you were just reading now determine whether you survive.
False notices may waste your time. Ignoring a real rule will cost you health.
SURVIVE TOGETHER. CHOOSE YOUR TRUST CAREFULLY.
Use proximity voice chat, text chat, and pings to divide the search and share your discoveries. Clues that are easy to miss alone can reveal a way out when you piece together everyone's records.
But searching for the same exit does not mean making the same choices.
You can share recovery supplies or keep them for yourself. Hand a companion the tool they need, or ruin their plans with counterfeit medicine and sabotage items. Even while helping more people escape, you may not want to miss your chance to leave first.
The tools to interfere with each other remain available even with Infested Mode disabled. You decide whom to help and whom to trust.
THE INFESTED HIDE AMONG YOUR CREW
Enable Infested Mode and some players will blend in with the survivors while hiding their true role.
The Infested search for documents, obey rules, and contribute to escape procedures alongside everyone else. They can spend the Karma they earn to create sabotage items or trigger the facility's anomalies. It is not easy to tell whether the person in front of you is helping the team or preparing their next disruption.
Was that incident a random phenomenon—or someone's plan?
When the round ends, the escapees anonymously vote for a suspect. Correctly identify an Infested and you can defeat their faction. If they remain unidentified, at least one Infested escapes, and the total number of escapees falls short of a majority, the Infested win.
Infested Mode is optional. Choose a round where everyone cooperates as survivors, or one with hidden saboteurs among you.
DANGERS ARRIVE OUTSIDE THE RULES
Knowing when the rules activate does not mean you can predict what the facility will do next.
Lights suddenly fail. Doors move or lock themselves. Rooms fill with toxic gas, and red searchlights pull at your gaze. Something crosses connected rooms, while another presence wakes in the darkness to interrupt your search.
Environmental threats can occur independently of the rule cycle. Some give a warning. Others become apparent only when you encounter them.
Watch your surroundings and listen closely. The route you just took may not be safe on the way back.
ESCAPE IS A PROCEDURE, NOT A DOOR
Even the documents describing your escape contain lies. Compare the records you find to uncover the right conditions.
- A unique object hidden somewhere in the facility
- A sigil whose meaning changes each round
- Carrying, placing, using, or throwing an object
- Conditions involving your stance, the room's lights, and its doors
Complete the necessary procedures and the final survivor record reveals itself. Follow it to a hidden door, a fracture in the floor, or an exit that opens under your gaze.
Everyone must complete their own escape. One person leaving does not save those left behind.
Work together toward the shared goal of a majority escape. The first person out returns to the lobby and the next round wearing the crown.
SIX FACILITIES. NO SAFE ROUTE.
Explore the Factory, Abandoned Ward, Backrooms, Flooded Underground Laboratory, Night Administration Wing, and Derelict Spaceship.
With different room structures, props, lighting, and routes, each facility makes the same rules a different threat. A danger that was easy to avoid in an open space may cut off your retreat in a narrow corridor. Familiar instructions can become difficult to follow when your surroundings change.
Study the layout and find a path with your crew. The next danger may begin just as you think you have reached safety.
THE SAME ANSWERS WILL NOT LAST
Room layouts, real and false documents, sigils, escape objects, and hazards are recombined each round. The scale of exploration changes with the group size, and the same facility can present a different situation.
Hosts can adjust round length, rule frequency and count, damage, anomaly frequency, map scale, and item quantities. Tailor the settings to your group, from cooperative rounds spent learning the rules to Infested rounds filled with suspicion and competition to escape.
