Description
Runtime Terror is a bullet heaven roguelite where you play the malware. Auto-fire through hordes of antivirus, draft upgrades into builds that break the system, and trigger the Kill Switch when it closes in. How far can you get before you're deleted?
About
YOU ARE THE VIRUS.
Congratulations. You're the thing IT departments warn people about. Everything on this machine wants you gone, and it brought friends.
Your weapons fire themselves. You just move, grab upgrades, and turn into something worse. A full run is about twenty minutes. Hyper runs the same fight at 2.5x speed, so about eight.
CAN YOU BREAK IT?
24 weapons. 20 of them evolve into something meaner, and YOU pick the moment. Most games in this genre evolve your stuff for you and tell you afterwards. This one stops and asks, which means you also get to be wrong about it.
Six weapons at once, six buffs, 28 to choose from. Somebody is going to find a combination I did not plan for. Honestly, good.
FULL SYSTEM LOCKDOWN
The system doesn't just send more of them. Your map cuts out. One enemy starts copying itself until it's the only thing on screen. Things from the next sector break in early and never leave.
And every couple of minutes it stops chasing you and just... surrounds you. A full circle. No gap in it. You have to make the gap.
Later it does the same thing with eighty of them in two rings, because it learned.
END TASK
Beat the first boss and you unlock the Kill Switch. It freezes the fight, opens a process list, and lets you terminate three things.
Yes, it's Task Manager. Yes, you're the process this time.
Three minute cooldown, so pick badly and you get three whole minutes to think about it.
THE THINGS TRYING TO DELETE YOU
38 enemy types, named after real computer disasters because I thought that was funny. Ransomware. Rootkit. Keylogger. Adware, which is somehow the most upsetting one.
One of the bosses is a SysAdmin. He clocked out hours ago. You're the reason he came back.
