About
About This Game
Desktop Tiny Tides is a relaxing desktop fishing game that transforms your computer screen into an active aquatic world.
Fish swim freely across your desktop while you control a small fishing boat by dragging it wherever you want to go. Follow schools of fish, search for rare species, cast your line, and complete a timing-based fishing minigame to secure your catch.
The game runs directly on your desktop, allowing fish and your boat to travel across multiple monitors. You can keep the game open while doing other things or focus entirely on finding every species.
A Living Desktop Ecosystem
The fish are more than simple collectibles. They move around the desktop, form schools, avoid obstacles, react to your boat, flee from danger, and interact with other fish.
Some fish stay close to the bottom of the screen, while others travel in groups or hide near desktop icons. Larger predators may hunt smaller fish, and nearby fish can become frightened and escape.
Every fish has its own behavior, preferred time of day, size range, weight, and rarity.
144 Different Fish
Discover 144 different fish species ranging from common everyday catches to extremely rare mythical discoveries.
Fish can appear in several rarity levels:
- Common
- Uncommon
- Rare
- Epic
- Legendary
- Mythic
Each fish also has a randomly determined size and weight. Larger catches are physically bigger, more valuable, and harder to overlook as they swim across your desktop.
Your collection records every species you have caught. Undiscovered fish remain hidden as silhouettes until you successfully catch them.
Fish at Different Times of Day
Different species appear during different parts of the day.
The game uses your computer’s local time to determine whether it is morning, afternoon, evening, or night. Some fish may only appear during a specific period, encouraging you to return at different times to complete your collection.
Timing-Based Fishing
Casting is controlled by holding and releasing the mouse button. The longer you charge the cast, the farther your bobber travels.
Once a fish bites, a timing-based fishing minigame begins. Stop the rotating indicator inside the success zone to reel the fish closer. More valuable fish require greater precision and may need several successful rounds before they can be caught.
Fish rarity affects the difficulty, while equipped fishing equipment can improve your chances.
Upgrade Your Fishing Equipment
Earn coins from your catches and spend them on new equipment.
Fishing Rods
Better rods increase the size of the minigame success zone, making difficult fish easier to catch.
Bobbers
Improved bobbers increase your maximum casting distance, allowing you to reach fish farther away from your boat.
Lures
Lures reduce the number of successful minigame stages required to catch a fish. Powerful lures can instantly catch fish that would normally require several rounds.
Fishing Traps
Place draggable fishing traps around your desktop. When a fish swims into an active trap, it has a chance to be caught automatically. Different traps provide different catch probabilities.
Purchased equipment can be equipped directly through the shop and visually changes parts of your fishing setup.
Explore Your Entire Desktop
Your boat is not restricted to a traditional body of water. Drag it freely across the desktop and between connected monitors.
Fish can appear from every direction and continue swimming throughout the available desktop space. Move your boat closer to interesting fish, but approach carefully, as they may notice you and flee.
