About

The map is your battlefield. Every border is a decision.

Palisade strips real time strategy down to its most readable choices. Found a capital, claim room to grow, link your holdings, and commit troops where your frontier can support them. There are no squads to micromanage: issue expansion, attack, and construction orders directly on the land while every border and active front remains visible.

Shape a living frontier

  • Click or drag to push into open ground, attack a neighboring realm, or reinforce a campaign already in motion.
  • Read elevation, coastlines, resources, troop arrows, and rival strength before choosing where to commit.
  • Watch major and petty realms compete for the same ground, then break a rival by capturing its defended capital.

Build a realm for war

Place and upgrade three building families, each with a distinct role:

  • Settlements grow troop strength but add ongoing upkeep.
  • Markets fund expansion from districts anchored by your Settlements.
  • Castles extend influence, increase troop capacity, and become harder to occupy as they rise.

Connect holdings with roads that grow into shared networks. A carefully planned route can ease Settlement upkeep and strengthen the buildings at its endpoints; a realm built too quickly can leave its economy unable to sustain the next war.

Choose your route to conquest

  • Drive broad land campaigns and reinforce the advances that matter.
  • Carve a fast corridor through hostile ground with a Cavalry Charge.
  • Plot a Naval Landing across connected seas, previewing the route and sinking risk before the fleet departs.
  • Draw Palisades across your own land to stop cavalry and force ordinary armies to spend time breaching the line.

Every order plays out on the map. Routes animate, attack arrows follow the front, and conquered ground changes color as control shifts.

Fight five campaigns across the world

Lead five compact campaigns across sixteen authored battles: Northern Saga, Yellow Turban Rising, The Genpei War, Atlantic Voyage, and The Triple Alliance. Distinct geography, realm layouts, and objectives turn the same readable rules into battles of conquest, territorial dominance, targeted rival defeat, and construction.

Choose Standard, Hardened, or Relentless difficulty for each campaign run. Between battles, select from deterministic legacy choices that improve your cavalry, naval expeditions, or Palisades for the rest of that run. Every scenario you reach remains available in Practice.

Create your own Skirmish

Turn supported campaign battlefields into custom conflicts. Choose your realm, the number of major rivals, petty realm density, starting resources, victory condition, AI difficulty, game speed, and compatible modifiers. Enter an explicit seed to replay a setup or share it with another player.

Multiplayer

The full Steam game also includes online multiplayer. Host or join a fixed-rules Northern Realms conquest match through a Steam friend invite or a short room code.

Public matchmaking, game chat, host migration, and crossplay are not included.

Palisade uses historical geography and carefully sourced regional context as the setting for an original strategy game. It does not claim to recreate every event, polity, or border at documentary scale.
