About

A TINY HOME ABOVE YOUR TASKBAR

Your taskbar was built for work. The cats did not get the memo.

Taskbar Cats brings five tiny pixel companions to the quiet edge of your Windows desktop. They wander independently, turn around, pause to inspect absolutely nothing, sprint, leap, lie down, and eventually decide that it is nap time.

FIVE CATS, FIVE LITTLE ROUTINES

No marching in lockstep here. Every cat keeps its own direction, behavior, and animation timing. One may race past while another blinks at the wallpaper and a third curls up for a very important meeting with sleep.

  • Five distinct pixel cats
  • Walking, running, jumping, idling, lying down, sleeping, and waking animations
  • Independent movement and behavior for every cat
  • Crisp nearest-neighbor pixel rendering at 1×, 2×, 3×, or 4× scale
  • A click-through desktop overlay that does not steal focus or block your work

YOU SET THE HOUSE RULES

Keep one quiet companion or let a small crowd take over the taskbar edge. From the tray settings, you can adjust:

  • Fixed, random, or periodic spawning
  • Cat count, lifetime, size, and movement speed
  • Animation speed, jump height, running speed, pauses, and sleep duration
  • Primary-monitor or all-monitor placement
  • Light, dark, and high-contrast themes
  • English, Korean, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, Spanish, German, and French interfaces

MORE MISCHIEF IS CLIMBING INTO VIEW

The animation above is an in-development Early Access preview. Wall climbing, ledge grabbing, quick dashes, and playful swipes are not included in the current build. We are exploring these ideas for future updates, and their exact scope or timing may change as we test them across Windows environments and listen to player feedback.

CUTE, QUIET, AND OUT OF THE WAY

Taskbar Cats starts quietly in the Windows notification area, works offline, and does not open a conventional main window. The cats do not intercept mouse clicks, and the settings are always available from the tray icon when you want to change their routine—or send everyone home for the day.

They will not finish your work. They may make procrastination considerably better animated.
