About
MapCity is a city-building sandbox that works the way a map does. The whole game is one big map. Pan anywhere, zoom in, and draw your city into existence. It is as much a drawing tool as it is a game.
Build anything, at basically any size: a farm track, a fishing village, a dense downtown, a highway network spanning a continent. Everything on the map is an object you can place, edit or delete, including everything that was already there. No unlock trees, no budget to babysit, no fail state. Layer tools give you full control over every graphical object when you want it - and you can ignore them completely when you don't.
Open a real place and start editing. Import map data from practically anywhere in the world with real roads, rivers, coastlines, terrain and towns. Load the US map, delete any city and build your own in its place, or keep what's there and extend it.

Blank terrain, no rules. Draw every road yourself and make your maps as detailed or as simple as you like. The building tools produce realistic results but don't place constraints on you or limit your creativity.
MapCity is built for scale. Zoom from a single driveway out to a whole region and keep building networks of towns and cities on any continent, on real-world terrain. Zoom out far enough and your work simply looks like a real map. Because that's what it is.

If you've used a modern web map, you already know the controls. Drawing roads feels just like drawing. Snapping, curves, grids and plenty of quality-of-life features, built for making large things quickly without fighting the camera or the UI.
A light simulation, when you want one
Underneath the sandbox there's an optional city game: population, density, demand and traffic, simulated as heatmaps over your real road network. It's deliberately simple with no individual cars or citizens, intended to allow the largest scale possible.
Honest notes
MapCity is new and in active development.
Feedback genuinely shapes what gets built next.
Full-world map data is big - some regions require installing free data modules from Steam.
Rendering very large or detailed maps can be slow on older systems.
