About
DeskFamiliar gives your AI agent a visible, expressive 3D presence on your desktop.
Instead of keeping your agent hidden inside a terminal or chat window, DeskFamiliar lets it appear as a living desktop character. Your agent can react to conversations, show what it is currently doing, and turn activities such as thinking, reading, writing, and using tools into natural animations and visual feedback.
Choose from a growing collection of 3D characters, including historical figures such as Newton and Einstein, original characters, and adorable animals. Different characters, outfits, animations, scenes, and visual effects let you personalize how your AI agent looks and feels.
DeskFamiliar has built-in AI agent capabilities developed on top of Hermes Agent, allowing it to work as a complete AI desktop companion without requiring a separate external agent.
It also supports external AI agents such as Codex and Claude Code through open-source bridge layers. These bridges translate agent activity into visual states and animations, allowing your desktop character to react when an agent is thinking, reading, writing, running commands, using tools, or completing a task.
Because the bridge layers are open source, developers can inspect, modify, and extend them to support additional AI agents, tools, and workflows.
DeskFamiliar is more than a static desktop pet. It is a visual shell and expressive 3D interface for AI agents, designed to make them feel less like software hidden behind a terminal and more like a familiar presence living on your desktop.
The core DeskFamiliar experience is free. Built-in agent capabilities, external agent connections, essential desktop features, and open-source bridges are available without requiring paid cosmetic content.
Optional characters, outfits, skins, animation packs, scenes, and visual effects support continued development. You can use the free characters and core features for as long as you like, and purchase additional visual content only when something appeals to you.
