About
The Mandate is a political career simulation set in American politics. Hold elected office, choose an agenda, and build a career while rivals, staff, donors, and journalists pursue goals of their own.
HOLD OFFICE. BUILD POWER.
Use limited time and influence to pass legislation and serve your constituents. Raise money, protect your credibility, win reelection, and seek higher office.
Decide which compromises you can defend when a donor demands a concession or an ally asks for political capital.
WHAT YOU CAN DO
- Shape policy and guide bills through committees and floor votes.
- Build coalitions through trust and shared interests.
- Trade favors or offer concessions to win support.
- Hire staff and manage their loyalty and ambition.
- Negotiate with lawmakers, donors, and party figures.
- Face the press and answer opponents in your own words.
- Track polls, serve your district, and run for reelection.
POLITICS DOES NOT WAIT
Politicians form alliances and exploit weak votes between your decisions. Staff pursue careers. Donors change priorities. Journalists investigate stories. Committee chairs rewrite bills, and allies break ranks.
A staff dispute can send a private commitment to the press. A concession can cost you a coalition. Your term unfolds inside a political world that moves with or without you.
TRACE THE CONSEQUENCES
Study staff reports, vote counts, polling, and news coverage. Find the broken promise, hostile relationship, or poor timing behind each setback. Change course before one defeat becomes a failed term.
LOCAL CONVERSATIONS
Speak in your own words during interviews and negotiations. A bundled local language model gives each character a distinct voice within the facts they know. It runs on your computer. The political simulation controls the facts and consequences behind each exchange.
