About

TEXTORIO

i am Donaldas, a solo dev from Lithuania. Textorio is a factory automation game made entirely out of

text characters.

You crash on Kepler-442b with a wrist terminal and not much else. 50,000 colonists are asleep in

cryo-pods somewhere below you, and the reactor keeping them alive is off. So you mine some ore, then

you smelt it, then you build the machine that does the mining for you, and it goes from there.

Why ASCII, honestly

Not because i could not do graphics. Because a factory made of glyphs is readable.

When your base is 50,000 tiles, a 3D version becomes a pretty mess you cannot actually parse. In text

you see the whole thing at once, like a schematic. Bottlenecks just show up on their own. You look at

it and you know where it is stuck.

Aaand it runs on almost anything. Integrated graphics, old laptop, whatever you have :)

The systems are real

This is the part i care about most. Nothing here is a number pretending to be a machine.

  • Electricity actually flows along wires. Grids brown out, load balances, you can short one
  • Fluids have real pressure across multi-tile pipe networks
  • Steam condenses back into water. Mismanage the loop and the pressure spikes
  • P.Logic, a pneumatic programming language inside the game. Sensors, gates, comparators, latches, timers, counters. You can build a working memory cell out of pipes
  • Belts carry two independent lanes

If you understand a system you can break it, and if you can break it you can optimize it. That is

the actual game.

Four layers down

Surface, Caves, Deep Caves, Core Chamber. Each one is a different engineering problem, not just a new

color of rock. Deep Caves overheat your machinery until you research thermal management. A lift

system moves you and your goods between them.

The wildlife feeds on electromagnetic energy, so it is not really coming for you, it is coming for

your factory. Build walls and it evolves to break walls. Use turrets and it swarms in bigger packs.

Static defense stops working after a while, so you have to keep adapting.

Also in there

  • A colony you keep alive with food, water and power. It grows through seven tiers, up to 50,000 people. Named citizens walk around and talk to each other
  • The Mote, a companion drone that follows, guards or scouts, and has moods about how you play
  • A full research tree, oil refining, three-phase power, auto-tiling walls and floors
  • An in-game terminal OS with a live map, power stats, production graphs and 50+ commands
  • 1v1 LAN Factory Wars

What is not finished yet

It is Early Access, so let me be straight with you:

  • The Core Chamber boss is not in yet. The layer itself is
  • English only for now
  • LAN 1v1 works, public matchmaking does not

Try it before you buy it

There is a free demo and it is the real opening arc, not a trailer. Crash, automate, get the power

grid online, meet the colony. If you do not like it you lost nothing.

Built by one person in Anykščiai, Lithuania. No publisher, no marketing budget. If something annoys

you, tell me on the discussion boards and i fix fast :)

Lets automate.
