About

You made the game. This tracks whether anyone actually wants it.

Launch Companion pulls your real wishlist numbers out of Steamworks every day and turns the "number go up" part of game dev into something you actually enjoy checking. It keeps the whole history, draws the curve, marks what you shipped on which day, and tells you whether this week beat last week, the things the Steamworks dashboard won't.

While it's doing that, it runs a studio idle game in a slim bar above your taskbar. You start writing code by hand. Then you hire a coder. Then artists, designers, marketers. Projects move through seven stages and ship, the back catalog earns while you sleep, and eventually you fold the whole studio and start again with better upgrades.

It's local. It's yours. No login screen, no dashboard hosted on someone else's server that goes down the one week you actually need it.

You'll need a Steamworks partner account and your own app on Steam. Every number comes from the Steam partner API using a Financial API key you supply. There's no manual-entry mode, without a key you get the idle game and a dashboard reading "—". Better you know that now than after you've bought it.

Features

  • Automatic daily sync. Connect once; it backfills your entire history and keeps itself current.
  • The number you actually want. Steam reports daily adds and deletes, not a running total, this reconstructs the real outstanding figure, and shows nothing rather than a wrong number if the history has a gap.
  • A studio idle game that runs while you work: hire coders, artists, designers and marketers, push each project through Prototype, Features, Art, Juice, Polish, Optimization and Marketing, then ship it. Every release keeps its own name and box art.
  • Fold the studio and start over. Reputation carries into permanent upgrades, cheaper hires, a head start, a slice of your old catalog.
  • Actual Steam achievements pop when you hit wishlist and sales milestones. Not fake in-app badges.
  • Sales tracking once you've launched: net units and net revenue, on the same timeline as the wishlists.
  • A weekly card that tells you if things are actually moving or if you're imagining it.
  • Tray tooltip with your current count, yesterday's change and days to launch, so you can check without alt-tabbing.
  • Automatic local backups because losing your campaign history would suck.
  • Your API key sits in Windows Credential Manager and never goes anywhere but Steam.
  • No account, no cloud, no subscription. Windows 10 or 11.

Watch the number. Run the studio. Ship the game.
