An anomaly-spotting horror game set in looping liminal poolrooms. Study your surroundings and identify changes ranging from subtle details to terrifying entities. Turn back if something has changed, continue if everything seems normal, and then use your camera to document the anomalies.
Spot the anomalies. Then capture them before it’s too late.
Backrooms Anomaly: Pools is an anomaly-spotting horror game inspired by the poolrooms, liminal spaces and the backrooms. Spot what has changed as you explore looping environments, then race against the clock to photograph anomalies.
Walk the loop
Tiled corridors, still water, empty chairs. Learn how the pools should look, then search each new loop for anything out of place.
Spot the anomaly
During the Detection Stage, inspect each corridor for changes. If you spot an anomaly, turn around and walk back the way you came. If everything looks normal, move forward to the next corridor. Some changes are subtle. Others are waiting for you to get closer.
Track what you’ve found
Keep track of your progress on the poolside boards.
Now survive
After detecting the anomalies, enter the Survival Stage. Multiple anomalies can appear at once. Grab your camera and photograph them before time runs out. Getting caught, running out of time, or taking three missed photographs ends your Survival run.
Look below the surface
Search the flooded chambers as carefully as the corridors. Water can hide changes. It can also hide something much worse.
Check every corner
Inspect the maintenance areas, doors, and equipment. Ordinary details can be the clue you need. Stay alert for the entities sharing the pools with you.
