Nordfolk

A peaceful little settlement far in the north, where everything is going well until winter arrives.

In Nordfolk, you assign villagers to jobs, expand your settlement, and build production chains that allow the colony to survive and grow. The warmer seasons are for expansion. The cold season is for research and resource management.

As your settlement develops, you can research mythology and construct landmarks inspired by Norse tales. Raise Yggdrasil to help your population grow, build Mímisbrunnr to expand your knowledge reserves, or complete Bifrost to make your scholars more effective. Other mythological structures can improve farming, fishing, hunting, mining, and crafting. Choosing which monuments to build becomes part of your strategy for helping the colony survive and develop.

The colony can experience natural crises such as wolf attacks or forest fires, which can cost you food, firewood, buildings, and lives. Once the population becomes large, outbreaks of disease can also leave villagers unable to work for a period of time. You therefore need to prepare for unexpected events and adapt your resource management when circumstances change. At the same time, you may encounter mythological events that suddenly provide additional resources or increase population growth beyond what you expected.

When you eventually reach your limits, you can Found a Saga: reset your settlement, gain permanent upgrades, and begin a new run with new choices that change the way you play.

The text-based interface is designed to create a simple and relaxed gameplay experience. Nordfolk is for players who enjoy strategy, numbers, and management within a peaceful but still engaging setting.
