About
Nightwatch at the Museum is a first-person psychological horror game set in Indonesia after the 1990s Asian financial crisis. Money is tight, jobs are harder to find, so when Raja is offered a position as the night guard of an old museum, he takes it without asking too many questions.
The building was once a Dutch colonial residence, later turned into a heritage site and named after a Javanese noble family that disappeared long ago. Their portraits still hang in the halls. Their belongings remain behind glass. Parts of their history were never meant to be displayed.
Your duties are simple: patrol the museum, check and secure each room, and make it through the night.
At least, that is what you were told.
Every patrol is mandatory. Every incident must be recorded. And when your shift ends, you are expected to return the next night. Quitting is not an option. That is the job.
But soon, what you see no longer matches what you are supposed to write. Burn marks appear where there were none before. Locked rooms do not stay locked. And with every patrol, the museum’s official history becomes harder to believe.
You are not the first guard to notice.
The others are gone.
And something, or someone.. inside the museum is determined to keep you there.
There are scorch marks throughout the museum that no one can explain. The longer you work, the harder it becomes to believe the official story. No one is going to tell you what happened here. You will have to find out for yourself between patrols, inside forgotten rooms, and in the small details that refuse to make sense.
You are not the first guard to start asking questions.
The others do not work here anymore.
- Slow-burn psychological horror inspired by local folklore and Dutch colonial architecture.
- Cross into a distorted version of the museum when you get too close to its hidden past and find your way back before it changes you.
- Make choices that shape the ending. Your job, your conscience, and your survival all depend on what you decide each night.
- Investigate the museum’s history through guard logbooks, old newspapers, damaged records, and exhibit labels that do not match the official archive.
