About

Don the Crown, or Corrupt the World with Coin—

"Crown & Coin: The Hundred Years" is a "Medieval Historical Ensemble Sandbox RPG" set during the Hundred Years' War (1337-1453), boasting an overwhelming degree of freedom.

Players are not omniscient gods looking down upon history. You are but a "single human being" surviving in a medieval Europe stained with blood, mud, and ambition. Will you trace orthodox history and become a hero, or shatter historical facts to establish an unprecedented new nation? Your choices will drive the 100 years of war.

■ 1,015 Historical Characters + Your Very Own "Original Protagonist"

From great historical heroes like Edward the Black Prince, Joan of Arc, and Bertrand du Guesclin, to ruthless mercenary captains (routiers), inquisitors, the False Joan (Claude des Armoises), and even the famous diarist known as the "Bourgeois of Paris," all 1,015 historical characters featured in the game are fully playable! They each possess detailed stats and affinities based on historical facts.

Furthermore, the game allows you to play as an "Original Protagonist" to forge history from absolute obscurity. Starting as a serf, as you rise to merchant, knight, and eventually a king, your protagonist's graphics will lavishly change to match your social standing.
(If you feel like you might get lost due to the overwhelming freedom, don't worry! There is an in-game manual feature where Master Guesclin will personally guide you!)

■ Overwhelming Freedom in Professions and Lifestyles

War is not the only way to live in the Middle Ages. Hone 15 different skills (ranging from swordsmanship and archery to arithmetic, medicine, and blacksmithing) and carve out your own path.

  • [Knight / Lord] A classic playthrough where you swear fealty to a king, lead armies to capture castles, and gather renown.
  • [Clergy] Take the cloth, join a monastic order, and rise through the ranks using faith as your weapon. Bribe cardinals to aim for the seat of "Pope," or become a dark power in the Dominican Order, branding political enemies as heretics and sending them to the "stake (guaranteed death)" once a year.
  • [Merchant] Become the "Ultimate Merchant" who trades local specialties and uses immense wealth to buy off entire armies. In taverns, you can even gamble massive amounts of coin playing historically accurate board games (such as Tables).
  • [Mercenary / Bandit] Plunder (chevauchée) to your heart's content in regions where public order has collapsed, becoming a king of the underworld who rules through fear.
  • [Troubadour] Sing epic poems of heroes and ballads of romance, aiming to become a legendary bard!
  • [Others] Become a good doctor and save people from the plague, or a wicked doctor who prescribes real mummy powder to legally assassinate rivals. Become the "world's best blacksmith" who forges ultimate weapons, a mad gambler, or a legendary great pirate traveling to foreign lands. The playstyles are endless.

■ The Ultimate Usurpation: "Coronation" at the Holy City of Reims and Seizing the Throne

This is not just a war of conquering territory. If you establish your own new nation, capture the holy site "Reims Cathedral," and hold a coronation ceremony, you will be recognized as the legitimate, god-blessed "King of France."

At that very moment, the former French royal house (House of Valois) will lose the throne and be humiliatingly demoted to a mere "Duchy of Valois." Usurp historical legitimacy with your own strength and become the founder of a new dynasty.

■ The Gritty, Unforgiving Reality of the Middle Ages

NPCs live with their own ambitions, desires, and religious beliefs.
You can assassinate political rivals and make it look like an "accidental death," or corner the flour market in an enemy's castle town to starve the entire city.
Furthermore, a harsh daily life awaits: you can ambush travelers wandering the world map under the cover of darkness, or on the flip side, be scammed by a peddler into buying an unappraised item that turns out to be a "dull sword."
And on the battlefield, gritty, realistic human dramas unfold—such as forging deep bonds with knights who have survived the brink of death with you by "taking a leak side-by-side in the trenches."

■ Just Uncheck "Default" and Select an Image! Custom Face Graphics & Clan Flags Supported

"Do you absolutely want to survive the Hundred Years' War with your own avatar?"

Of course you can! No tedious setups are required. Simply place your favorite PNG image in the designated folder to feature your very own original character as the protagonist in the game. You can even fly your self-made image as an "Original National Flag (Clan Flag)" in the game. Establish a nation and forge a new superpower to rival France and England!

■ 5 Era Scenarios and 22 Destinies Guided by the Tarot

The game can be started from 5 distinct eras (+ Custom Mode).

  • [1344] The Dawn of War and the Threat of the Black Death
  • [1355] The Black Prince's Great Chevauchée. An Era Overrun by Bandits
  • [1397] Usurpation and the Rosebud (Power Struggles and Conspiracies)
  • 【1413] The Miracle of Agincourt (England's Zenith)
  • 【1427] The Maid of Orléans (France's Brink of Ruin and the Appearance of the Holy Maiden)

History will branch off into chaos depending on your actions.
From a peaceful resolution where you drink with both the Kings of England and France, making them sign a peace treaty with hungover hands, to a mad ending where you fleece Gilles de Rais of his money in a gambling match inside a burning mansion. 22 collectible multi-endings likened to tarot cards await you.

Wield your sword, or weave conspiracies. Forge your very own Hundred Years' War.
