Your mother, Patricia, has died at home, and you've come back from America for
her wake and funeral. The parish takes you in before you've done a thing to earn
it. After the funeral, the family farm is yours to look after.
The land is still yours
The fields have gone to rushes, brambles and stone. Clear them with the family's
old tools. Then drag across a bed to queue the whole job (tilling, sowing,
watering or harvesting) and watch the work get done. There are ten crops, from
spuds and cabbage to leeks, beetroot and strawberries.
Tend your stock
Buy cattle and sheep at the mart on Thursdays and Saturdays. The haulier brings
them out to your paddock the next morning. Sell them on in your own trailer.
Fish the lake, cook Irish recipes
Cast from the shore and play the fish in. Cook ten Irish recipes in the
farmhouse. Level up six skills and spend points on thirty perks.
Know your neighbours
Seventeen neighbours in twelve households go about their own days: work,
errands, the pub and Mass. Stop for a chat, bring a gift they'll like and take
on the day's requests from the notice board.
Sundays are for Mass
The week turns on Sunday Mass, and the square fills up afterwards. The calendar
keeps the feast days, such as Candlemas, St Blaise's Day and Holy Week.
Evenings at O'Brien's
Order a pint at the bar and sit in for a hand of Twenty-Five, the traditional
Irish card game, with Mick and Paddy.
Get About
Get about on foot, by bicycle, in the car, on the tractor or on the farm's cob.
Play in English or Irish.
