About
TURN-BASED TERRITORY STRATEGY
Pact or Peril is a free-to-play strategy game for 1–8 players. Deploy armies, capture territories, control regions, collect cards, and form pacts with other players.
Play alone against bots or compete online in Casual and Ranked matches.
COMBAT
Choose how many dice to roll during each attack or use Full Send to resolve the entire battle automatically.
Calculated Dice mode provides exact conquest odds and lets you choose how many armies to commit. Classic Dice mode keeps every combat round fully random.
PACT SYSTEM
Players can form private pacts and exchange preset strategy messages.
Pacts do not prevent attacks. Either player can break or ignore the agreement at any time.
MULTIPLE GAME MODES
- World Domination — Conquer the map or become the last surviving side.
- Capital Conquest — Capture and hold every player’s capital.
- King of the Hill — Control the Hill and earn enough points to win.
Matches support free-for-all, 1v1, and team formats.
CUSTOM MATCHES
Configure the rules before each match:
- Classic or Calculated combat
- Cards and reinforcement settings
- Fog of War
- Private pacts
- Portals and Portal Chaos
- Firestorms
- Turn timers
- Teams
- Troop placement
GAME SECURITY AND FAIR PLAY
Online gameplay uses dedicated server authority. Army placement, combat, captures, cards, fortification, pacts, and victory conditions are validated by the server.
Fogged territory information is withheld from opposing clients instead of only being covered by the interface.
Online matches also include reconnect support, bot takeover for disconnected players, inactivity safeguards, and mute, block, and report tools.
REPLAYS AND BATTLE ANALYSIS
Completed matches can be saved as action-based replays.
Replay tools include:
- Pause, playback speed, and timeline controls
- Player point-of-view and omniscient viewing
- Turn-by-turn event feed
- Cloud replay storage
- Six-character replay sharing codes
Battle Analysis charts show how army strength, territory control, cards, and eliminations changed during the match. In replay analysis, chart points can be used to jump to important moments.
MAP EDITOR AND STEAM WORKSHOP
The included Map Editor allows players to:
- Draw territories
- Create regions and reinforcement bonuses
- Add borders and shipping lanes
- Set labels, colors, and army positions
- Preview troop badges and portals
- Configure map hazard counts
- Validate maps before playing
Custom maps can be played in Single Player and Casual multiplayer. Steam players can publish and download maps through the Steam Workshop. Ranked matches use official maps.
