Something is living on the wreck.
You and your crew are stabilisation engineers: blue-collar contractors paid to board dead ships and make them safe. Somewhere in the vents and the dark there's a creature that can't be killed. Your job is to find where it nests, work out exactly what it is, and report back so the sterilization team knows what they're walking into.
▎Investigate
Bring the right tools, then read the ship. Watch for neutron spikes, UV trails left where it has moved, bloodied vent grilles, readings from cloud chambers and test kits. Every creature leaves its own unique signs.
Learn them, rule out the rest and make the call.
▎It's hunting you
The creature doesn't wait for a timer. It follows your scent through the corridors and hunts down the hum of powered equipment. Sprint, leave a device running or panic, and it'll come looking. When it hunts, break line of sight, find somewhere to hide, or throw an aniseed grenade and run.
▎Keep the ship alive
Restore power, reroute atmosphere and cycle airlocks while you work. The more of the wreck you bring back online, the more the job pays. The more you change the environment, the riskier it becomes. You choose your level of risk and reward
▎Work the contract
File your report at the end of every job. Get it right and get paid. Spend what you earn at your tug's fabricator to print better gear.
▎Twelve creatures. One guess.
The Lurker. The Parasite. The Warden. Death. Each one behaves differently and leaves different evidence. Guess wrong and someone else pays for it.
