About
Glory to the Heroes, set in the theatre of the Russian-Ukrainian War, is an immersive PvPvE mil-sim that provides a unique perspective on modern warfare by combining massive combined-arms combat with extensive elements of survival and immersion, with the action taking place in accurately recreated real-world locations of actual battles.
Gameplay
The vision of Glory to the Heroes is to showcase the brutal scale and tragedy of modern-day conflict by immersing players in the role of an average enlisted soldier on the battlefields of the Russian-Ukrainian War - a conflict that has introduced new realities of modern warfare between regular armies: brutal trench and infantry combat combined with the massive use of artillery and UAVs, including FPV drones. By representing real events from the conflict in an accurate and historically grounded manner, Glory to the Heroes is committed to serving educational, journalistic, and cultural purposes.
Features
From CQB Village-Scale Skirmishes to Vast Region-Sized Operations
Each map recreates real battles using photogrammetry-scanned objects, including shelled buildings and historical sites, built on top of real-world landscape data from Ukraine. The scale ranges from close-quarters infantry clashes, such as the fighting for Krynky, to enormous open 425 km² operations like the Battle of Izium.
Squad-based, Combined Arms combat Sandbox
Players can work and cooperate within squads and utilize vehicles to be most effective at the strategic level of the battle, or go lone-wolf and pursue personal objectives, conduct ambushes, and engage in other activities to gain personal or tactical advantages - but every action has consequences for either you or your squadmates. Each battle represents a real operation, its broader operational situation, and the challenges faced by both factions.
PvPvE
Participate in high-risk, high-reward direct engagements in “Contact”, or commit to a long-lasting strategic war in “Operations” - with and against other players, AI, or in hybrid PvPvE scenarios.
Character and Progression
Every player operates within the game as a personal in-game avatar who carries their progression, persistent personal stash, and objectives that drive the narrative.
Vendors and Economy
Contact Vendors - dedicated civilian and not-entirely-civilian characters you can interact with to trade, purchase items and gear, or acquire personal assignments to complete in the game world.
Equipment and Gear System
Build your loadout from an extensive arsenal of real-world weapons, armor, tactical rigs, backpacks, and field equipment, risking it all for greater combat effectiveness - or purchase a pre-built dedicated Kit designed for a specific role, such as assault or FPV operations. Every piece of gear has its own properties, limitations, and purpose - and everything you carry can be lost in combat.
Weapons and Combat
Master a variety of realistically modeled firearms with uncompromising gunsmith customization, from individual components and attachments to ammunition and magazines. Advanced ballistics simulate projectile velocity, penetration, armor interaction, ricochets, and weapon handling - making every shot, ammunition type, and modification matter.
Vehicles
Command authentically modeled ground vehicles with interiors built around distinct crew positions, physical controls, and realistic handling. Engines, transmissions, suspension, armor, damageable components, and onboard weapon systems combine with multi-crew operation to make every vehicle a complex machine you need to know how to use before operating - whether it’s aiming through the BPK-2-42 or adjusting the 1G42 reticle for the correct range at which your 120 mm round should land.
Movement and Handling
Take full control of your character with a deeply physical movement system built around weight, inertia, stance, and momentum - lean, crouch, go prone, climb, or vault; adjust your movement speed and the sound of your footsteps based on the combat situation; and control your body exposure by switching the weapon between shoulders.
Advanced AI & PvE
Face unpredictable AI combatants that patrol, investigate, communicate, take cover, share the same arsenal of equipment as players, and react dynamically to threats around them. From poorly trained riflemen to highly skilled specialists, PvE encounters turn every contact into the kind of dangerous fight you would expect from a real player.
Immersive Injuries and treatments
To stay alive during battle, you can’t rely on bandages alone - experience a hardcore medical system where every wound matters. Treat bleeding, fractures, pain, and damaged limbs with specialized medical supplies - or watch your combat effectiveness and life rapidly deteriorate.
You are not a PMC
Unlike many other shooter games, in Glory to the Heroes you start as an average enlisted soldier, not a highly trained special forces operator or PMC. Your character can suffer psychological effects during battle, unexpectedly hit a hidden landmine, or suddenly be killed in an intense artillery strike. Gaining experience, learning new weapons and tools, and experimenting with different tactics are all part of advancing and progressing.
Visual representation: Glory to the Heroes includes violence and gore as expected from a military war game based on historical events.
