Background

• The story unfolds in the fictional ceramic county in southern Fujian—Wushan.
• Since ancient times, a giant Buddha known as "Mida" has stood upon Mount Wushan. Countless folk tales surround the statue—some even say Mida is alive.
• Then, one day in 2009, the Buddha vanished into thin air. And a half-century enigma was about to come to light.
